Tasked with finding new life for decomissioned shipping containers in an 18-hour Lock-In competition sponsored by Wrigley Brands, our team created Thrive. Thrive is a proposal for bringing agriculture closer to urban centers by creating scalable hydroponic farms in old containers, which can grow produce all year round. These artifacts of the most polluting industry on Earth, shipping, now help to reduce the carbon footprint of transporting fresh produce to market.

The proposal also included plans to use a modified version of Thrive pods as community gardens in public spaces within cities, further closing the distance between grocery shoppers and the fresh fruits and vegetables they buy.
